Can Anyone Be Hypnotised?
Since hypnosis is a completely natural state of the mind, anyone can be hypnotized. If you are receptive and desirous of change, you can move into this state of heightened relaxation. More importantly, anyone in a state of hypnosis can very easily and safely return to the normal awakened state. If you want to make changes through hypnotherapy, you can be hypnotised. People who don’t want to be hypnotised, don’t let themselves be.
Common Misconceptions about Hypnosis
Firstly hypnosis is not a magic bullet that can cure all your medical and physical conditions. However it can solve the majority of them quickly and naturally. Secondly, under hypnosis you will not respond to or perform any act that you would find morally offensive or incompatible in an awakened state. If you were feeling threatened or scared you would come out of trance quickly and naturally on your own, feeling alert and fully awake.
Can Hypnotherapy Sessions Be Done Over the Internet?
Yes, a hypnotherapy session can be done using the Skype service with the video capabilities on your computer. It may be a convenient way for client and hypnotherapist to communicate when the client is not able to get to the hypnotherapists office. But face to face sessions are definitely preferable.
Can I Claim for Hypnotherapy Sessions on my Health Insurance?
Yes, hypnotherapy is able to be claimed in some instances depending on your policy.
How Will I Know If I’m Hypnotised? – The Convincer
Firstly, I will put you into to very relaxed trance state, then I will give you a hypnotic suggestion, called a convincer, whereby you will recognize the fact that you have put into a hypnotic trance state. This experience will remove any doubt that you have been hypnotised. Most people remember everything that has been said to them, they retain their awareness of the surrounding sounds and where they are all of the time.
How Long Will It Take?
Your first appointment will take about 1 ½ to 2 hours. Firstly we will discuss your background history and then I will give you a “convincer”. This will enable us to decide whether or not you are a suitable candidate for hypnotherapy. If you feel that hypnotherapy is not for you, we will halt the session and you will not be charged.
While every person is different and the severity of problems varies considerably, most people get a positive result within the first session. However it’s not unusual for clients to have between 2 to 5 sessions over a period of several weeks. We can decide together whether you feel you need to schedule another appointment after each session.
What Exactly Is The Subconscious Mind?
Because there is a limit to the information that can be held in conscious focal awareness, as it would be an information overload, a storehouse for one’s knowledge and prior experience is needed; this is the subconscious.
The subconscious mind is a composite of everything one sees, hears and any information the mind collects that it cannot otherwise consciously process to make meaningful sense. The conscious mind cannot always absorb disconnected information, as it would be an information overload, so the subconscious mind stores this information where it can be retrieved by the conscious mind when it needs to defend itself for survival (and for other reasons, such as solving puzzles).
The subconscious mind stores information that the conscious mind may not immediately process with full understanding. It stores the information for later retrieval when ”recalled” by the conscious mind, or by an astute hypnotherapist who can draw out information stored in the subconscious, bringing it to the individual’s conscious awareness.
